On 14th December 2017, Finland’s Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Mr. Jorma Suvanto signed the delegated agreement with the Ambassador of European Union to Nepal HE Ms. Veronica Cody for a grant of 20 million euros to implement the Rural Village Water Resources Management Project, Phase III (RVWRMP III) in Far and Midwestern Regions in Nepal.
The total project cost is 60.2 million euros. The project started with the first phase in 2006 and the completion phase will continue until 2022. FCG International is already implementing the project with the Finnish funding (and has implemented the previous phases also). This additional grant will support the overall implementation but will particularly focus on the livelihoods activities, increased resilience to disasters and climate change, as well as promotion of climate change mitigation and adaptation. This additional funding is a vote of confidence from the EU and Finland in the work carried out by the RVWRMP team, the local government and line ministry staff and the communities.
