In early January FCG International signed the contract for and started the project for development of a Comprehensive Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Financing Programme for Sri Lanka working for the Ministry of City Planning and Water Supply and its Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement Project. The project is financed by the World Bank.
The project kick-off meeting was held at the National Water Supply and Sewerage Board (NWSDB), one of the key stakeholder for sector development in Sri Lanka, on 8th of January 2019.
The planned duration of the assignment is for 12 months and the objective of this assignment is to identify critical gaps in the water supply and sanitation service delivery in Sri Lanka and provide the information, tools and the knowhow to guide the sector with a strategic direction by the preparation of a Comprehensive Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Program(CWSSSP).
The project will provide financial and other assistance for the preparation of this CWSSS Program in collaboration and consultation with the NWSDB together with National Planning Department (NPD) and other sector stakeholders; to improve water supply and sanitation across the island. The program is led by the NWSDB in collaboration with the NPD to address the gaps and strategically invest in the sector through a programmatic approach which can be financed by local or foreign funds.
