Upgrading the Wastewater Treatment Plant of Györ, Györ-Moson-Sopron County, Hungary

The project comprised the complete construction of the biological wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 60 000 m3/d. In addition to the construction of anaerobic sludge stabilization-digestion facilities with biogas utilisation (2x4 000 m3/ digesters) and the establishment of multi-stage treatment via the construction of the compost plant at Likocs: dewatering the sludge at the plant and transport of the sludge to the composting area.

Actions to reduce odoriferous effect at the WWTP were undertaken, laying of a 800 mm pressure main from the pumping station to the plant.

The upgraded WWTP is expected to serve a population of 170,050 in 2015 providing wastewater treatment in accordance with the standards of the EU Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (UWWTD).
