The overall objective of the Energy and Environment Partnership Programme, EEP Mekong, was to contribute to improved access to energy and energy services and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, thus mitigating the pace of climate change. The purpose of the programme was “Broader range of renewable energy, waste to energy, and energy efficiency solutions (especially favourable to the rural poor) adopted in energy related policies and strategies and being implemented by public and private actors, through a wider range of partnerships, funding mechanisms and increased funding opportunities”.
