In June 2013, as part of the G8 agenda under UK Presidency, Tanzania entered into a Land Transparency Partnership. The partnership aim to increase the ability of governments and citizens to understand and administer who holds land tenure rights, and the process of how tenure rights can be transferred. In Tanzania, the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) are committed to supporting the implementation of the partnership with a view to developing a long term programme aimed at helping Tanzania create a fully functioning accountable, transparent and sustainable land administration.
In 2013 the design of the Tanzania Transparency Land Tenure Support Programme was carried out and later approved by the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Human Settlement. The Embassy of Sweden intends to support the Land Tenure Programme and therefore contracted ORGUT to carry out an appraisal to obtain an independent assessment of the Programme Document in accordance with Sida’s rule and regulation as well as to determine if there is coherence to the Result Strategy 2013 – 2019.
