FCG’s traditional event for our cooperation partners took place on Thursday 11th June, with some 45 participants from ministries, the Parliament and project partners. Our staff members Auli Keinänen and Sini Pellinen, with their recent personal experience of the massive earthquake in Kathmandu, presented FCG’s decade long efforts improving the water and sanitation as well as livelihoods situation in Nepal.
Our key speaker from Sida, Nina Strandberg (Senior Advisor Innovation), presented Sida’s experiences on cooperation with the private sector and shared her views on the current and future trends of change in development policies and agencies. Mika Vehnämäki from the MFA of Finland responded to Nina’s views. Our second speaker, Kari Hämekoski (Nordic Environment Finance Corporation, NEFCO), provided his insights on combining climate, development and business.
The politicians’ panel: Osmo Soininvaara (vihr), Kai Mykkänen (kok) and Katri Kulmuni (kesk) discussed the efficient and focused use of development money and agreed on the importance of raising the role of Finnish companies in development cooperation.
We want to thank all the speakers and participants for the successful event! Special thanks to Mikko Kuustonen who kept the program together, facilitated discussion and shared his own experiences from the field (unfortunately there was no time left for autographs).
