FCG International participated recently in two international conferences – the International Dry Toilet Conference in Tampere, Finland; and the World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden.
Participating in the Dry Toilet Conference were Pamela White from the Helsinki office and staff from our Nepal water projects – Sanna-Leena Rautanen and Narayan Wagle from the RWSSP-WN project (http://www.rwsspwn.org.np/) and Kari Leppänen and Chakra Chand from the RVWRMP project (http://rvwrmp.org.np/). They all gave presentations in the pre-conference, as well as presenting individual papers in the conference on a range of topics related to improving access to sanitation.
Auli Keinänen and Pamela White from the Helsinki office participated in the World Water Week. Pamela presented in the Finnish workshop ‘Water and Sanitation to Millions – Working with the People’, as well as presenting an electronic poster, prepared together with Sanna-Leena Rautanen, on ‘Operationalising Rights to Water and Sanitation in Nepal’. Auli and Pamela also worked on an FCG International stall for one day, introducing our experiences to passers-by.
These conferences were a great opportunity to showcase our international water and sanitation experiences, particularly from Nepal, but also globally; and to explore new opportunities.
