ORGUT Consulting AB supports the establishment of the Institute of Land Administration at the Bahir Dar University (BDU) in Ethiopia. The B.Sc. education programme started in September 2006 under the Faculty of Law. As land administration is a new undertaking in Ethiopia, collaboration with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden was developed in order to get international experience. The programme is designed to meet the immediate need of land surveyors but also to strategically build the institutional capacity required for the development of a robust and self sustaining land administration sector in Ethiopia that ultimately improves support food security and poverty reduction.

The objective of this assignment was to strengthen the capacity of the Institute of Land Administration (ILA) academic staff to enable them to carry out demand driven research in the area of land administration. The scope of work included:

  • Proposing the content of the training for the approval by BDU‐ILA management
  • Producing relevant training materials in close cooperation with ILA
  • Delivering the training
  • Assessing the training and produce a short report.
