Development of Ground Water Resources Rules and Regulations and Policy Framework

This assignment involved short-term technical assistance for the Kenya Water and Sanitation Programme (KWSP), within the component of Water Sector Reform (WSR) supporting institutional development of the Water Resources Management Authority (WRMA).

The objectives of this assignment were to contribute to the development of Rules and Regulations in respect of Groundwater Resources, and Groundwater Conservation Areas and Protected Areas respectively. Supporting the development of the rules in relation to Ground Water issues involved:

• Development of Guidelines for Applicants for Water Permits; and for WRMA Staff responsible for their receipt and assessment.
• Rules Roll-out workshops for key stakeholders
