Sida has supported the forestry and wood industry sector in Bolivia over the past ten years. By mid-2005, Sida engaged a consultant to prepare an overall, integrated programme for Swedish support to the sector over the period 2006-2010. The report of the consultancy, in the form of a Programme Document, was submitted in November 2005 and was subsequently reviewed by Sida with assistance of external consultants. As a result of the review, the Swedish Embassy in La Paz decided to engage a consultant team to assess the Programme Document and make the necessary changes in the Document as well as in its constituent projects, making it more focused and more effective in poverty alleviation.
