The Management of the African Development Bank has decided that an Integrated Urban Development Strategy be developed and SIPU International was employed. The new strategy development aims at addressing the following issues:

  1. Assessing the concrete impact of the Bank’s previous portfolios on urban development
  2. Assessing the major problems undermining the development of truly integrated urban development operations in the Bank’s portfolio and
  3. Proposing viable policy operations and strategies that would enable the Bank to finance well-focused integrated urban development projects/programs characterised by positive impact on poverty reduction, and also develop private sector participation in the improvement of the urban sector.
