Strengthening Capacity and Regional Cooperation in Advanced Agricultural Science and Technology in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region (TA 6214-REG)

The Technical Assistance strengthened the capacity and the regional cooperation for the safe use of advanced agricultural science and technology and for the related food safety in GMS countries, thereby contributing to sustainable agricultural growth in the region. The objectives of the project were to increase awareness of the stakeholders, increase technical capacity of institutions and improve policy guided decisions relating to biotechnology and advanced agricultural science. The latter was achieved through an awareness and education program, technical training for experts and the development of a national and regional policy and regulatory framework to manage the risks of biotechnology while providing support for the innovation and implementation of the new technology.
