Climate Change & Environment
Climate change is the defining human development challenge of the 21st century. The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and climate targets will not be achieved without significant action.
Climate change is the defining human development challenge of the 21st century. The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and climate targets will not be achieved without significant action. Our environment is essential to our way and quality of life around the world and climate change is having devastating impacts across the globe, with knock on impacts in areas such as conflict, food security, human rights, and the politicisation of resources, especially land and water. 2022 was the warmest year on record for many countries around the world and, according to the UN, by 2030 an estimated 700 million people will be at high risk of displacement from drought alone.
We address the vulnerability of communities and infrastructure by optimising resource use, diversifying income sources, designing more resilient infrastructure and many other locally identified interventions.
Our international projects are increasingly focusing on sustainable, carbon neutral initiatives, the environment and green energy, either as components of multi-disciplinary programmes, or as specifically targeted projects. FCG integrates climate change resilience, mitigation and adaptation, and disaster risk reduction activities into projects in agriculture and forestry, food security, water resource management, water supply and sanitation, and other fields. FCG supports governments and communities in preparing for the projected changes in climate, such as rainfall patterns and extreme weather events.
