Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) helps reduce or avoid harmful impacts altogether. EIA also provides a solid basis for subsequent design and permit applications. Where helpful, we tailor the EIA to support parallel processes such as plan-making or technical design.

The aim of EIA is to find the best way to deliver a project in co-operation with stakeholders.

Based on the feedback received and the studies carried out during the EIA, both alternative routes were further developed. In refining the alignments, account was taken of, among other things, property boundaries, flying-squirrel habitat, distance from dwellings, visibility in the landscape, and opportunities to utilise existing power-line and road infrastructure. Choosing a power-line route is always a compromise between many factors. In the preliminary routing, efforts were made to consider the factors as even-handedly as possible.”
