Port and waterway structures must be designed to withstand environmental loads. Designing these works calls for broad knowledge of operations, environmental conditions, technical solutions and costs. FCG’s design capability is robust, and our specialists are among Finland’s most experienced in port structures and fairways.

Our services cover port and quay structures from commercial ports to marinas, fairway and waterway design, and other water-engineering works such as quay walls and fish passes. As a broad-based partner, we handle both structural and environmental questions. Design includes ecological surveys and sediment investigations to support permit applications under the Water Act.

Our multidisciplinary team brings together landscape architects, landscape horticulturists and experts from other fields. Services cover landscape assessments, planning for green and recreational areas, park design, and town-centre development. Designing industrial sites and their infrastructure demands multidisciplinary skills — from traffic arrangements to water-balance management and environmental amenity. FCG is an experienced partner that provides sustainable design solutions under one roof, taking account of a company’s future needs. We design containment and protection structures for chemical reception areas, fuel-dispensing points and storage areas.

Services cover energy and process networks, drainage design, traffic planning, and water-supply and sewerage networks. We design safe traffic arrangements, including gate and fencing solutions and traffic-management systems. Water-balance management includes the handling of clean and contaminated water streams, pumping stations, water-treatment systems and separation systems. FCG is Finland’s leading designer of the natural gas transmission network.

Safety comes first in designing service stations. In Finland, environmental-protection requirements are precisely defined, and fuels must be handled so that hazardous substances do not leak into the environment. FCG has years of experience and hundreds of assignments in service-station design — from preparation through to supervision.

Projects are multifaceted, involving zoning, permitting processes, authority notifications and negotiations. We provide all the necessary design — from contaminated-land investigations (PIMA) to environmental impact assessment — and we organise training in environmental quality control. Legislation governing fuel retail is evolving and alternative fuel types are increasingly available, which makes flexibility in design essential.

FCG is Finland’s leading actor in the design of sports and recreational areas, with very extensive, long-standing experience in concept, detailed and refurbishment design.

We deliver architectural, structural, pitch and sports-field, building services (HVAC), electrical, lighting and landscape designs as a single package. The best outcomes are enabled by seamless collaboration between the client, our designers and the contractor. In addition to traditional athletics and football fields, we have designed artificial-ice rinks, a velodrome, a roller-skiing track and skateparks.
